IP Telecoms Systems Explained

What are the advantages of IP Telecoms?

Using IP technology, it is now realistically affordable to put in place a telecoms system where amongst other things, free calls between offices anywhere in the world is now a reality, as is home working.

IP Enabled Telephone Systems offer the best of both worlds. These hybrid systems support analogue, digital and IP telephones and still achieve the ultra reliability that clients throughout the world have taken for granted.

SIP trunks are the corporate way of facilitating calls over Broadband. Generally a high quality Broadband connection is required which is dedicated to voice. The Broadband is effectively "split" into channels to allow a number of simultaneous calls (actual number depends on bandwidth and equipment) to take place.

SIP trunks are very cost effective to rent in comparison with ISDN channels.

Call charges are normally cheaper except calls to mobiles which can be slightly more expensive.

Pure IP Telephone Systems are normally server (software) based, these systems rely entirely upon IP technology. These systems completely integrate with your data network and therefore require no further wiring, in fact, dependent on the type of telephone chosen your data infrastructure could be halved as only 1 outlet per PC and phone is required.

Phones can be completely screen based with headsets, USB telephones or a normal looking telephone combined with on screen information.

As the system is completely integrated it can span effortlessly across your whole data infrastructure. So if you have multiple offices all already linked via your data network, a pure IP system could increase your productivity by making your colleagues more accessible to you and at the same time saving you a huge amount on call charges!
