Telecoms Solutions for Home Worker in the USA

BACKGROUND

The MD of a Bristol client was moving to the USA but needed to continue his role in the business within the hours that allowed with time difference.

OBJECTIVE

To move the MD´s extension from his desk in Bristol to his homeworker's desk just outside New York. To keep all features the same including being able to "page" for a particular member of staff and being able to include the MD in the ring group when he was logged in.

HYBRID TELECOMS SOLUTION

The client´s Samsung Legacy system was upgraded to the latest Panasonic Digital IP Hybrid system (KD-TDA) with a remote extension card. Using standard Broadband both ends a VPN (virtual private network) was created between sites and an IP connection installed at the USA end.

The client simply plugged in a pre-configured router and a telephone. Budd´s IT Technician logged in remotely to fine tune the settings.

Although the client was given the normal caveat that calls over Broadband can vary, the quality has been exceptional for most calls.

We have of course repeated the above telecoms solution for many home or remote workers based in the UK.
